John Trombitas is a seasoned veteran of the San Francisco Bay Area Music Scene. John is a versatile Drummer & Percussionist who has played in a wide variety of musical projects. John got the drumming bug, when at age ten he learned how to play the song “Wipe-Out.” At fourteen he studied with Jazz Drummer & D.J. “Cuz Cousineau” and almost immediately started performing in local bands. His first band “Off The Wall” Played every High School Party in Marin. At age Seventeen, John started studying drums with Drum-Legend Chuck Brown, who has taught Dave Garibaldi, Terry Bozzio, Will Kennedy, to name a few.
John is a founding member of the critically acclaimed band “The Casuals.” After “The Casuals”, he joined local funk band “MODOC.” He also worked for several years with “The Bluejeans” –the ‘Hardest Working Band’ at the time with his best friend Eugene Huggins.
He has also worked with “MindzEye” Nick Gravenites, Curtis Lawson, and others too numerous to name. John has opened up shows for “The Meters” “Bobby Blue Bland”, “The Neville Brothers” “Robin Ford” “Gatemouth Brown” and many, many, others.
John loves all styles of music –Soul, Jazz, Blues, Latin. But Funk from the ‘70’s through the 90’s is his specialty, and first love.
John’s favorite drummers, that have influenced him, include Harvey Mason, Billy Cobham, Stix Hooper, Dennis Chambers, Ziggaboo Modeliste, Louie Bellson, Max Roach, and of course, Chuck Brown who John currently studies with.
